Recently, after a series of positive and life affirming events, I’ve been reminded of how important it is to share our stories. You never know who else you are inspiring and uplifting just by telling the world more about your experiences and your unique perspective. I’ll be aiming to incorporate more of that on CailaKSpeaks, not just the inspiring stories of people of color working in digital and tech roles, but also, my own stories. So hold me to it. Black engineers join forces to boost diversity
A group of Black engineers, led by Pinterest engineer Makinde Adeagbo, just founded /dev/color, a nonprofit group for African-American engineers. The group brings together engineers from top companies such as Facebook, Uber and Airbnb to provide support and a voice to African Americans and give them the opportunity to support the next generation. This article is not solely about Jamesha’s experience at Google, but more so about the persistent themes and patterns she’s experienced as a black woman in tech. Jamesha also shares what she’s doing to support fellow black women techies.
