Sheena Allen, the creator of Sheena Allen Apps, is a self-taught mobile app development whiz who proves you don’t need fancy credentials to build an app empire. Hailing from a small town in Mississippi, she created her first app as a senior in college with no coding knowledge or experience. Like most of us, she simply had a vision for an app and a burning desire to see it come to life. Unlike most of us, she took the initiative to find out how to bring that idea to fruition. One rough sketch in Microsoft Word and a basic Google search later, she found a developer to work on her first app idea, InstaFunds.
Sheena’s first app was far from a success (she got around 50 downloads), but she didn’t let that stop her. With persistence and trial and error, she now has 6 apps and over 2 million mobile app downloads. One of her bestselling apps, PicSlit, an app that lets you create giant picture banners on your Instagram profile, has been used widely by brands and celebrities alike.
